Stop Smoking Day - How to Prepare For Yours

A popular way to quit smoking is to choose a stop smoking day. Like the name suggests, the purpose of this day is to stop smoking. Your whole goal is to load up on any ammunition you may need in your journey towards a smoke free life. But, how do you prepare for your stop smoking day?

The first thing you need to do is put you desire in writing. On a piece of paper, or an index card, write down what you want to do and why. Every morning when you wake up you will read this note and enforce your desire to quit smoking. You also will refer to this card any time you are tempted to smoke after your quit date.

Some people suggest telling your friends and family that you are planning on quitting, so they can support you in your decision. If you have friends who also want to quit you can choose a day that is good for both of you.

You could also keep it to yourself. Sometimes you end up pressuring yourself much more by telling others. You may find greater success by keeping it to yourself and fighting the battle on your own.

The night before your stop smoking day, gather anything that reminds you of smoking (ash trays, lighters, etc) and throw them away. Make sure you take any leftover cigarettes and toss them as well. The whole purpose is to remove any form of temptation from your immediate area.

The best stop smoking day you can choose is today, right now. Rip up those cancer sticks and throw them in the trash. The longer you put off the decision to quit smoking, the harder it is going to be to quit.
